Raymond Douglas Bradbury was born August 22, 1920 in Waukegan, Illinois. As a young boy, his Aunt Neva would bring him to plays and encouraged him to use his imagination. At 12 years old, Bradbury saw a perfomance that inspired him to spend hours each day writing stories. His family moved to Los Angeles in 1934. Bradbury graduated high school in 1938 and was unable to join the military due to bad eyesight. Instead, he sold newspapers while privately working on his writing. Bradbury started writing full-time in 1943. He married Marguerite Susan McClure on September 27, 1947.
His book Farenheit 451 was written in 1953.
Ray Bradbury has over 500 published works including Now and Forever, From the Dust Returned, and One More for the Road.

In 2010. on occasion of his 90th birthday, Bradbury received Pulsar Award from Sarajevo SF Club PulSar
In 2007, Bradbury received the French Commandeur Ordre des Arts et des Lettres medal.
For his contribution to the motion picture industry, Ray Bradbury was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6644 Hollywood Blvd.
An asteroid is named in his honor, "9766 Bradbury", along with a crater on the moon called "Dandelion Crater" (named after his novel, Dandelion Wine).
On April 16, 2007, Bradbury received a special citation from The Pulitzer Board, "for his distinguished, prolific, and deeply influential career as an unmatched author of science fiction and fantasy."
On November 17, 2004, Bradbury was the recipient of the National Medal of Arts, presented by President George W. Bush and Laura Bush.
